Carlos Camacho
Flamenco dancer in Granada
Carlos Camacho was born in Jaén, where he took his first steps in flamenco at the age of eight. At seventeen he began his professional flamenco dance studies at the Reina Sofía Professional Dance Conservatory in Granada. In 2015 he was a finalist in the “Desencaja” competition and danced in the ensemble of a piece choreographed by Antonio Canales and produced by the Granada International Festival of Music and Dance.
Between 2016 and 2020 he completed his degree in dance teaching at the María de Ávila Higher Conservatory of Dance in Madrid, doing his teaching placement at the Carmen Amaya Professional Dance Conservatory in Madrid. He combined his studies with professional work at various tablaos, such as Las Carboneras and Café de Chinitas, among others. During this time he also taught technique and choreography at several dance schools in the city.
In 2017 he won first prize at the Community of Madrid Choreography Competition, dancing in the ensemble of a piece choreographed by Guadalupe Torres.
In 2021 he worked as an ensemble dancer and soloist with the Ballet Flamenco de Madrid and with Cristina Hoyos’s dance company, in a show that ran at the Teatro Eslava (Madrid) until July 2023.
In 2023 he moved to Granada and began performing at various tablaos such as La Soleá, La Alboreá and Jardines de Zoraya. At the same time, he started teaching courses at different levels at the Carmen de las Cuevas, combining all this with several international tours as an ensemble dancer in the musical “Don Juan”, choreographed by Carlos Rodríguez.
