David Vargas
David Vargas, a 22-year-old dancer born in Granada, has shone in the world of flamenco from an early age. At 6 he took his first steps at a modest neighbourhood dance school, where his passion for dance began to stand out.
At 16, David entered the “Reina Sofía” Professional Dance Conservatory in Granada, where he perfected his art under the guidance of flamenco dance experts. His dedication and talent soon set him apart, and he is now in his second year at the Fundación Cristina Heeren, where he is not only a student but also a dance assistant for the singing and guitar students, as well as teaching classes himself.
David’s list of achievements is impressive. He has won numerous awards recognising his excellence and dedication to flamenco, including first prize and the Acciona scholarship at the Fundación Cristina Heeren Dance Competition, first prize at the Federation of Peñas of Seville competition, first prize at the “Aniya La Gitana” Dance Competition in Ronda, first prize at the Andújar National Dance Competition and second prize at the Federation of Peñas of Málaga competition.
His art has taken him to iconic stages all over Andalusia, from the most traditional tablaos to the most authentic caves and peñas (flamenco clubs). Audiences in Granada, Málaga, Seville and Córdoba have seen him perform, captivated by a dance that conveys the very essence of flamenco.
