Flamenco dancer Macarena Mulero

Macarena Mulero was born on 28 July 1985 in Murcia and began dancing at the age of 5. In 1998 she won second prize at the Ribarroja Dance Competition in Valencia. When she came of age, she moved to Granada to continue her training with leading masters such as Mariquilla, Manuel Liñán and Juana Amaya. In Granada she performed at well-known venues such as the Sacromonte caves, La Cueva de la Rocío and the Peña de La Platería.

In 2008 she won first prize at the Las Torres de Cotillas Dance Festival in Murcia. In 2011 she settled in Barcelona, performing at El Palacio del Flamenco, Los Tarantos and El Tablao del Carmen, and teaching at La Tati’s school and at the Palacio del Flamenco. She was also a member of Oleándole, a group fusing flamenco and jazz.

In 2017 she was a semi-finalist at the Cante de las Minas International Festival in La Unión. She now lives in Granada and performs at tablaos such as Albayzín, La Alboreá and La Soleá.
