Mónica Prado (Flamenco dancer)
Mónica Prado began dancing at the age of three in her home city of Granada. At thirteen she entered the “Reina Sofía” Professional Dance Conservatory in Granada, specialising in Spanish Dance. After graduating, she was selected as a dancer by the Centro Andaluz de Danza (CAD) in Seville, where she toured under some of the most sought-after teachers and choreographers in Spain, such as Rubén Olmo, Miguel Ángel Corbacho, Ana María Bueno, Rocío Coral, Adela Campallo and Patricia Guerrero, among others.
In 2020 she won first prize as Professional Soloist at the “Flamenco Puro International Dance Competition” in Jerez, and performed at the “Winners’ Gala” as part of the 2020 Jerez Festival programme. Dance has taken her across much of Spain, as well as to countries such as Mexico, Turkey and Portugal. In 2022 she toured the United Arab Emirates with leading Granada artists, performing as a dancer at the Dubai Opera.
Also in 2022, she joined dancer Eduardo Guerrero’s project “Jondo. Del primer llanto, del primer beso”, part of the Lorca y Granada season at the Teatro del Generalife, with which she later toured major Spanish theatres such as the Gran Teatro de Córdoba. She has also toured Spain and abroad as a dancer with Madrid-based companies. In 2023 she premiered her first solo project at the Teatro de la Chumbera in Granada, and in 2024 she joined the Ballet Flamenco de Granada, with whom she toured China.
She graduated in Flamenco Dance Performance from the María de Ávila Higher Conservatory of Dance and also performs as a dancer at various tablaos in Madrid and Granada, such as “Las Tablas”, “La Alboreá” and “Peña La Platería”.
