Fita Heredia

Flamenco singer Fita Heredia

Fita Heredia is a true Granada-born flamenco singer, a direct heir to one of Granada’s most respected flamenco dynasties and a voice increasingly present on the stages of the most authentic flamenco.

Fita Heredia is the daughter of the master Manuel Heredia, which places her roots at the very heart of Granada’s Gitano flamenco. Her art runs in the family, absorbed since childhood in a world where cante (flamenco song) was not a choice but a way of life.

Her career has taken her both to the tablaos and peñas (flamenco clubs) of her homeland and to major stages. She has taken part in top-level productions such as Manuel Liñán’s Llámame Lorca, a sign of the trust that today’s great flamenco creators place in her voice. She is also a member of the Coral Flamenca de Granada, a unique project that brings together nine Gitano artists from Granada and, for the first time, approaches flamenco singing as a choir: the voices converse and intertwine, accompanied by the guitar, exploring new harmonies without losing the essence of cante jondo.

At the same time, Fita is a reference for compás (rhythm) and backing vocals in major concerts. She has repeatedly accompanied the singer Marina Heredia, one of the most important figures in flamenco today, on her national tours and international performances, providing palmas (hand-clapping) and backing vocals at venues such as the Arte Flamenco Festival in Mont-de-Marsan, France.

Her presence on the Andalusian Peñas Circuit, with performances at flamenco clubs in Granada, Ogíjares and Málaga, also reflects her commitment to the flamenco closest to its devotees: the flamenco lived in the intimacy of the peñas, which demands that singers bare their soul before the most discerning audience.

In short, Fita Heredia is a voice with deep roots and wings of her own: heir to a lineage, companion to the greats, and a true cantaora on the stages where flamenco really counts.
